The only three things that actually matter

Sundays are going to be a little different from here on.

Tuesday and Thursday I'll keep bringing you coaching content, training principles, programming ideas, everything you need to work better with clients over 50.

That's not going anywhere.

But on Sundays, I want to share something less tactical and more personal.

Fifty years of living generates a lot of material.

It seems a waste not to use it.

I've been thinking a lot lately about what actually separates the people who get where they want to go from the ones who don't.

Not the overnight successes.
Not the viral moments.
The real stuff.

The people who build businesses that last, bodies that function at 60, relationships worth having, and some kind of inner peace that doesn't depend on everything going right.

After 50 years, 10 of them running a business, 30 playing rugby, and more time than I care to admit battling my weight, my injuries, and occasionally my own head, I keep arriving at the same three things.

Patience. Consistency. Commitment.

That's it. That's the whole game.

Apply them to your training, and you get a body that serves you for decades rather than breaks down trying to keep up with a programme designed for a 25-year-old.

Apply them to your business, and you build something sustainable instead of burning yourself out chasing someone else's definition of success.

Apply them to a relationship, a partner, a child, a friendship worth keeping, and you become someone people can actually rely on.

Apply them to your faith, your recovery, your mental health, your craft, and slowly, without drama, without a viral moment to mark the occasion, you become someone who is genuinely hard to stop.

The problem is that none of this is fast.

And we live in a world that has decided fast is the only thing worth celebrating.

I'm closer to 51 than 50 now.

And the clearer I get on this, the less I'm interested in fast.
