The Real Reason I Became a Coach (And Why You Should Focus on the 50+ Market)
Stop chasing PRs and start changing lives... the untapped market that will transform your coaching business
Want to know the REAL reason I bought my gym?
It wasn't to help people triple their deadlift or hit a double bodyweight snatch.
Let me tell you something that might change everything about how you approach coaching...
For me, performance has NEVER been about how fast someone runs or how heavy they lift.
Real performance is about HOW WELL you do something.
Think about it...
When we watch a world-class violinist, we don't marvel at how FAST they play or how HARD they strike the strings.
We're captivated by their accuracy, their artistry, their mastery.
The sheer beauty of their performance.
The truth? The REAL reason I started coaching goes back to my childhood.
I remember watching my grandmother struggle to get off the couch without me or my brothers giving her a hand.
That image has stuck with me for DECADES.
A perfectly healthy person who just wasn't strong enough to be physically independent.
My mission as a coach has ALWAYS been to prevent someone else's grandma from experiencing that humiliation – that feeling of being unable to do something the rest of us take for granted.
But here's where I messed up...
I wasn't brave enough to start catering to that audience when I began coaching.
I bought a CrossFit gym with an existing clientele, predominantly 20-40 year olds. And what I ran up against was brutal.
I had this "help first, patience, consistency" mindset...
But I was attracting an audience addicted to the "rip it and grip it, better to burn out than fade away" mentality that dominated functional fitness at the time.
No matter how hard I tried to impart my desire to help these people live longer, healthier, happier lives, the conversation ALWAYS circled back to:
"How much weight can we put on the bar, coach?"
"How fast can we do this movement, coach?"
Then something magical happened in 2017.
I finally pulled that scab off and ran our first Legends program.
We attracted 13 hardy souls who were each facing different versions of the same situation my grandma had found herself in:
Physical limitations
Emotional barriers
Confidence issues around fitness
Struggling to feel good about themselves
The response?
Mind-blowing.
So here's what I NEED you to understand:
If you have even a FRACTION of the desire I had to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives...
You CAN'T ignore this audience.
You CAN'T avoid running programs specifically for people over 50 or 60 in your community.
Because believe me...
There are HUNDREDS, if not THOUSANDS of people in your area who DESPERATELY need a loving, caring, conscientious coach to help them:
Rediscover their physical independence
Reignite their love of life
Live the next 20, 30, or 40 years with greater confidence and physical ability than their last few decades
This isn't just another market segment.
This is a MISSION worth pursuing.
Are you ready to make a REAL difference?
Cheers!
